Useful Links

When I first went Paleo I struggled to find blogs and products I could rely on, especially those within the UK.  The same happened when I decided to turn to green beauty and ethical, sustainable living. I’ve curated links for some of my favourite bloggers, brands and services in hopes that you won’t have to spend years searching for yourself and feeling like a lost puppy. If you’re new to Paleo and want to know what it’s really about just check out my Idiot Guide to Paleo. If you’re a blogger, brand, or service and want to be added to the list please drop me a message via my contact page and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

CBD Brands (UK and EU)

With CBD oil at the forefront of my blog, I felt it only right to pop this dedicated CBD section at the top of my page of useful links. CBD (cannabidiol) is currently booming in the health and wellness market and although it is thought to have many beneficial properties it is currently sold as a food supplement, and not a medicine, in the UK. You can read all of my CBD reviews here.

Supplements

CBD supplements are my go-to for recipe development. I love to create CBD edibles at home and you can too – for a whole bunch of CBD oil recipe inspiration check out my simple CBD edible recipes here. If edibles aren’t your thing then you can opt for taking a CBD oil tincture sublingually (under the tongue), in capsule form, in a water-soluble/liposomal form for fast delivery, or rub your aches and pains away with some CBD balm.

  • Goodbody Wellness – Sell a range of luxury gourmet flavoured vape solutions as well as CBD tinctures suspended in both MCT and hemp oil. Available in flavours; Black Forest, Raspberry, Chocolate and Hazelnut, Peppermint, and Unflavoured. Strengths 2.5%-20%.
  • Kanaco – 100% natural and organic CBD supplements. Tinctures are available in mint flavour only, 4 different strengths; 2.5%-20%. Also sell a 250mg (2.5%) Nano CBD Oil in ‘Natural’ which has a higher absorption rate. Capsules also available.

  • Bloom Botanics – Sell different brands of CBD products; oils, capsules, balms, edibles, even CBD for pets – the works!
  • KIKI Health – KIKI Health is a superfood brand that has jumped on the CBD bandwagon. They now stock full-spectrum tinctures in strengths from 5-25% and water-soluble curcumin rich one too.
  • Green Stem – I find Green Stem really exciting – they stock full-spectrum CBD tinctures in Seville Orange, Black Cherry and Peppermint flavours, ranging in strengths from 300-2000mg. They also sell vape kits, and skincare products such as hand cream, lip balms, and a bath bomb.
  • Four Five CBD – A relatively new brand to me that was founded by two rugby players – they sell oils, capsules, and balms aimed at athletes. The oils are in spray bottles ranging from strengths of 500-2000mg and are available in natural and orange flavour.
  • The CBD Botanist – Sell their own branded supplements; tinctures, capsules, and balms, as well as a host of other branded items such as vapes and CBD, infused coffee beans.
  • Spirit of Hemp – They stock a couple of tinctures at 3% and 7% as well as a facial serum and CBDa hemp tea.

  • In Balance CBD – Sell a couple of tinctures, a balm, and cream as well as a 7-day 5% sample kit which is great if you’re new to CBD.
  • Dragonfly CBD – Are different in that they sell a ‘narrow’ spectrum as well as full spectrum supplements. Narrow spectrum isn’t an isolate but rather CBD in a filtered form, with all other cannabinoids, terpenes and waxes reduced. This means that you won’t get as much as a strong flavour with it but still some milder entourage benefits.
  • Provacan CBD – Stock oils, capsules, and flavoured lozenges. They also sell a wide range of topicals such as aftersun, blemish control, SPF 30 sun cream, eye cream, bath salts – pretty much everything you can think of.

Edibles

Okay, sometimes we all just need a day off. Why would we want to make our own edibles when we’ve been working our socks off all day? Below is a list of my favourite CBD edible brands – not all are Paleo friendly but the majority of them are pretty darn healthy.

  • Green Monkey CBD – As well as selling a range of supplements, Green Monkey stocks an awesome green-coloured carbonated drink with 10mg of CBD per 250ml can. • KUZA Chocolate – This is chocolate worth getting excited about! Artisan bean-to-bar (raw I think?) chocolate that’s infused with CBD. Available in 3 flavours; 75% Ceylon Cinnamon and Orange, 66% Indian Chilli, and 44% Himalayan Salt all sweetened with raw cane sugar. The bars come in two different strengths – either 50mg with 3.3mg of CBD per piece or 200mg with 8.3mg of CBD per piece.
  • Prasino CBD – Prasino is an innovative Netherlands-based brand that sells 2 blends of CBD superfoods powders – Alpha Sport and Calm Comfort. Made from 100% natural ingredients with 6 different superfoods in each blend. There’s 10mg of water-soluble CBD per serving.

Cosmetics

CBD is fast becoming a popular skincare ingredient due to its anti-inflammatory and stress-relieving properties. You’ll find topicals such as; bath bombs, serums, moisturisers, lip balms, body butter, bath salts… the list is endless. CBD is great for acne-prone skin but also at melting the stress away which I think is great for anti-ageing. For more on CBD in skincare check out my blog post here.

  • BYBI Beauty – Stock a 100mg CBD Hemp Facial Oil that’s designed as a daily skin de-stressor – the CBD Booster is great for blemish-prone skin that’s feeling sensitised, irritated and a little stressed.  Read my BYBI reviews here. Drug and Psychedelic Resources (UK and EU)

Other than smoking a lot of weed in my youth I have never had an interest in taking drugs, I’ve never even been a fan of drinking alcohol either, but over the past couple of years, I’ve begun to build a sense of curiosity around psychedelics, particularly in how they can help certain mental health conditions and possibly be an aid to the neurodivergent community.

So, although CBD may well be the main focus of my blog, I have begun a journey to work on my mental health by micro dosing both THC (not a psychedelic obviously) and psilocybin/psilocin – the chemical compounds found in Psilocybe a.k.a. magic mushrooms. I have suffered from mental health problems since before my teen years and I’m not even sure if I’ve ever been officially diagnosed with anything. For me, micro dosing is a much healthier option than the medication I’ve tried in the past. I’ll be uploading a blog post soon in which I’ll go into more detail about my experiences.

I have a background in science and math, I was big into biopsychology and genetics, but sadly never got to finish the 3rd year of my degree as I was a very young single mum at the time. I tried for a 2nd degree a little later in life (Cinematography) but again never managed to complete that due to financial reasons. I would love to go back to my science roots if I could ever have the opportunity again but sadly wouldn’t be eligible for any funding. Sometimes I like to study little courses when I get the chance and so I went on a hunt for some amazing learning material.

On my little quest for more information, I came across some amazing people doing amazing things and I thought it would be great to add a collection of my favourite links on the subject.

  • Drug Science – These guys are an amazing website in the UK that has literally everything you could ask for – whether you’re a health professional, student of just a curious bystander your needs will be catered to. If you’re looking for books to read or information on the history, law and pharmacology of drugs you’re going to find it all here. They also run frequent events and talks that anyone is welcome to (pretty sure students go free!).
  • Psychedelic Integration (UK) – Describing themselves as “…a supportive, empowering and educational space for the UK’s psychedelic community.”. They have resources to learn everything you need to know about psychedelics – whether you’re starting your journey or have prior knowledge you’ll find something of use. There’s a list of integrative psychotherapists, events, blog posts, community meetups and much much more.
  • Double Blind Magazine – DoubleBlind is an awesome US-based, biannual print magazine and media company “covering timely, untold stories about the expansion of psychedelics around the globe.”. They also offer courses in micro-dosing psychedelics, how to grow shrooms, and even how to trip sit like a pro (plus many more kick-ass courses). They have so many interesting articles even covering motherhood, which, for obvious reasons, is a topic close to my heart.
  • Third Wave – This site is pretty amazing, with some cool website design too, very similar to the Drug Science site but with the history and laws being more geared to a US audience. From 2C-B to peyote and tobacco you’ll find everything you need to know on psychedelics and micro dosing. They even run a micro dosing course which costs just under $200.
  • Psychedelic Support – Do exactly what their name suggests and provide both paid and free educational online courses to advance your understanding of psychedelics and psychedelic-assisted therapies. They also offer accredited training programs. If you’re a healthcare professional you can pay a little more to ensure you gain CE/CME credits on any of the paid courses.
  • The Academy of Medical Cannabis – These guys provide courses tailored to medical professionals but there are still courses such as the free course ‘Medical Cannabis Essentials’ that anyone could find of use and I have completed myself. There are a few on there I still have my eye on for when I can afford to complete them.
  • Awakn Clinics – located in Bristol, London, and Oslo they offer Ketamine-Assisted Therapy to treat depression, anxiety, PTSD, eating disorders and addiction. Treatments are cheap running at £5-7k with an initial assessment cost being £350. They have strict eligibility criteria and also look through your GP records first before they’ll even take money for an assessment.
  • COMPASS Pathways – Describing themselves as “…a mental health care company… dedicated to accelerating patient access to evidence-based innovation in mental health.”. That innovation is psilocybin therapy. They’re currently researching its application for anorexia nervosa and I think they’re the only people in the UK currently looking to fund the study of the effects of psilocybin in autistic adults and ADHD.
