What could be better than regular chocolate spread I hear you ask? Uhhhh CBD Chocolate FUDGE Spread, that’s what! I’ve been using CBD (cannabidiol) to manage my depression and anxiety but also for when my autoimmune disease flares up to ease my pain and symptoms. Taking it straight started to become a little bit boring and somewhat tedious so I began making myself CBD infused treats. It’s really easy to add CBD oil to your favourite things like smoothies, chia pudding, and nice cream. It’s simply a matter of figuring out the number of portions per recipe and then adding in a dosage per portion.
This CBD Chocolate Fudge Spread is packed full of antioxidant-rich cacao and a 50mg hit of CBD per serving. Suitable for those on a keto, Paleo or vegan diet.
I’m lucky enough to be able to work with Truth Naturals who stock various CBD supplements that are organic and contain no traces of THC whatsoever. CBD is totally legal and there have been a lot of recent scientific studies unearthing a whole host of health benefits (more on this in future posts!). The great news is that every month Truth Naturals will be sending me out some of their wonderful products in order to bring you 2 delicious CBD based monthly recipes – it’s pretty much a win-win situation hey?! I really love working in this way because it means that I get to sample various products so that you don’t have to. After a good 8 months of CBD use, specifically with the Truth Naturals range, I know what works well with different ingredients and also the effect it will have on mental health, pain management, and relaxation. Although, all of our bodies are slightly different of course but, it’s a really good starting point that will help to make sure that you don’t have to go out and waste your money on products that aren’t likely to work for you. Speaking of money – all Greens of the Stone Age readers are entitled to a whopping £10 off their orders using the discount code GEORGINA10 at the checkout.
Chances are if you’re new to CBD you won’t need to use such a high dosage and so please feel free to drop the dosage down by half to start out with if you feel you need to – or if you’re just trying to save your pennies of course. I like to save this high dosage fudge spread for that time of the month – I’m kind of dubbing it the PMS Spread because it gives me some much-needed crampy pain relief but combined with the awesome magnesium-rich cacao it can help to alleviate those cramps further, boost endorphins (say bye bye to those mood swings) and increase energy. Poifect.
This pretty much tastes like fudge but it’s a lot more spreadable in texture and has a tad herbal twang to it that’s reminiscent of cannabis but it’s such a hint that you really won’t notice it at all unless you’re spooning it from the jar, which who are we kidding, you probably will do. I know I’m guilty.
The great thing is that this spread is so versatile – you can spread it over sourdough for breakfast (and feed it to the kids to keep them calm this summer holidays) or you can heat up the jar in a little hot water for an instant hot fudge sauce that you can pour over ice cream sundaes and banana splits – yes really!

- ⅔ cup/160ml cashew milk or tinned ⅓ cup full fat coconut milk diluted in ⅓ cup water
- 85g cacao paste (finely chopped)
- ¼ cup/60ml NuStevia Simple Syrup or ¼ - ½ cup xylitol granules/coconut sugar
- ¼ tsp fine Himalayan pink salt or sea salt (if coarse grind)
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract or ½ tsp vanilla powder
- 50g raw grass-fed butter (or 30g coconut oil and 30g cacao butter if vegan)
- 250mg or 5ml Truth Naturals 1500mg CBD Oil Tincture
- In a heavy bottomed saucepan bring the milk, sweetener of choice
,, Himalayan pink salt, and half of the cacao paste (roughly 40g) to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low or low, being sure to maintain a low simmer, and cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. - Remove from the heat and stir in the remaining cacao paste, grass-fed butter (or coconut oil and cacao butter if vegan), and the vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and glossy. Leave to cool for 20 to 30 minutes and stir in your CBD extract. You can now serve this as a hot fudge sauce or, alternatively leave to cool completely before placing into the refrigerator to set. This will take about 1-2 hours. Spread onto toast and enjoy!
Store in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. To reheat as a hot fudge sauce simply place your jar in a bowl of boiling hot water for 3-5 minutes until it is just pourable - you still want it to be thick!
*All cup measurements used are UK cup measurements and so 1 cup = 250ml.
Makes roughly 5 servings
