The great thing is that cacao in its raw state possesses some pretty awesome properties. Cacao releases endorphins into your body, making you feel happy thus boosting your mental energy, it also increases the blood flowing from your brain to your body which again boosts your energy levels. Plus it’s also jam-packed with magnesium which helps to fight fatigue. So, if you find coffee gives you a crash you might find cacao a better substitute!

The hot chocolate mix is so easy to make, and it contains minimal ingredients that won’t spike your blood sugar such as coconut sugar and cinnamon – which actually helps to stabilise your blood sugar too. I used ginger and nutmeg for that cosy warming sensation that we all need in these colder months, and I’ve even written up the recipe so you know how to use the hot chocolate mix once you’ve made it – I like to add in a tiny bit of blackstrap molasses for a more authentic gingerbread flavour but this isn’t essential.
