Back in January, I came up with an awesome recipe for some Strawberry Cashew Milk using Truth Origins Liquid Vitamin C, now I’m back again to showcase another one of their awesome products – their water-soluble Liquid Curcumin which comes in a zesty pineapple and lime flavour so I knew I had to make something tropical. I decided to go with an exotic smoothie bowl using pineapple, mango, banana, macadamia butter, and a little secret veggie in the form of frozen cauliflower. Sounds gross but it’s actually super amazing and you don’t notice it at all!

I think by now a lot of you will know what curcumin is, but for those that are still a little unsure let me explain… Curcumin is a little curcuminoid compound that comes from the turmeric root and is what makes the gorgeously bright orange pigment within the plant. These little curcuminoids are part of the same family of polyphenols (antioxidants) from flavans to flavanols and even bioflavonoids. Essentially these anti-inflammatory antioxidants help to fight off free radicals in our bodies that can cause inflammation and diseases, as well as speeding up the ageing process and a whole host of other problems. Most research has been done around curcumin particularly which is widely used in India to treat digestive and urinary disorders, liver disease, and aid pain relief, wound healing, and allergic inflammations.
You’ve probably only seen curcumin supplements come in capsule form, essentially just extracted from turmeric powder which is not easy to absorb into the body on its own, although piperine from black pepper can help it is still quite minimal. Truth Origins Liquid Curcumin, however, is a game changer as it’s a full spectrum supplement meaning that it contains all of the remaining curcuminoids of the plant that all work together synergistically resulting in even better results. As it’s a water-soluble supplement it is absorbed into the bloodstream faster and at higher quantities than any other supplement is. Truth Origins don’t use toxic chemicals or synthetic solvents in order to extract their curcuminoids meaning they’re highly potent and don’t contain any fillers – only high-quality plant-based ingredients making them not only super healthy but also suitable for vegans and those following a whole range of diets including keto. Just check out the full ingredients list below:
Ingredients: Full spectrum turmeric extract, frankincense extract, fruit extracts, spice extracts, steviol glycosides, trace mineral complex, and green tea extract.
As you can see it has an amazing list of all natural ingredients that help to support the curcuminoid complex – for instance, frankincense extract is also another potent anti-inflammatory used to combat arthritic pain, much like turmeric. Again green tea extract is high in antioxidants and so will defend against oxidative stress meaning better brain and liver health and clearer, healthier skin too. If I could describe the taste it’s quite sweet at first with a fragrant pineapple-lime flavour and then the bitterness of the turmeric comes through. It’s definitely palatable when taken sublingually but much nicer when accompanied with other ingredients as I’ve done with this recipe. It’s got quite a peppery and spicy kick to it which adds a pretty unique flavour to the overall smoothie bowl and for that reason, I think 6 pumps make for a yummier bowl but 12 is still pretty darn edible. Anyway, enough of my awful waffling – check out the recipe for my Exotic Smoothie Bowl below!
