Back in March, a new TikTok trend was born – ‘Nature’s Cereal’ – made famous by Lizzo but created by the wonderful fruit-loving TikTok user @natures_food. Who, by the way, is an advocate for women and equal rights so he’s definitely worth following if you’re on there. Now I’m not on TikTok, I know I know I really should be, but even I saw the infamous video of Lizzo whipping it up and I was all for it. Maybe it was her hypnotizing voice, maybe it was the glistening of the berries, I don’t know but I knew I had to give it a go myself.

If you’ve been living under a TikTok rock don’t worry, I’ll fill you in. Nature’s Cereal is a simple breakfast recipe that consists of fresh berries doused in coconut water. You can throw in some ice for good measure too. Sounds heavenly right? Right! But from a nutritional standpoint, I wanted to give this recipe an upgrade to make it more of a complete breakfast or post-workout snack. That’s where Myprotein’s Clear Vegan Protein comes in.

I know adding protein sounds like it’s a bit of a cheat because technically it’s man-made and not gifted directly from nature but it’s a fun way to incorporate some much-needed protein without destroying the beauty of the recipe in the first place. Protein is super important to help those muscles grow and to maintain your muscle mass but it’s also the building block of every cell in your body. Your body uses protein to build and repair tissues which is why it’s every gym goers perfect post-workout snack. But, it also helps to make essential enzymes and hormones that your body needs. Not to mention it keeps your skin, hair, and nails looking super-swish.
Ensuring you have an adequate protein intake can be tough when you’re vegan, especially if you’re active, so supplementing is a no-brainer. Clear Vegan Protein is a clear pea protein isolate ready-to-mix powder enriched with vitamins. It’s available in the following flavours; Apple & Elderflower, Blackcurrant, Blue Raspberry, Lemon & Lime, Pineapple & Grapefruit, and Strawberry. It costs £22.99 for 20 x 16g servings and each serving contains 10g of plant-based protein, 50% of your recommended daily intake of essential B vitamins, and only 1g of sugar.
I’ve got both the Blue Raspberry and Lemon & Lime flavours but I wanted to play with vibrant colours and so opted for Blue Raspberry in my protein-rich Nature’s Cereal recipe. The Blue Raspberry Clear Vegan Protein is a limited edition so it won’t be around for a while and it has a mesmerising metallic blue-shimmer effect to it which is perfect for sitting out in the garden in the morning sunshine. It’s pure Instaworthy foodie material.
Enjoy a protein-rich version of TikTok’s infamous Nature’s Cereal with Myprotein Clear Vegan Protein. 10g of plant-based protein, 50% of your recommended daily intake of essential B vitamins, and only 1g of sugar.
Another amazing fact – Myprotein are now running their annual mid-year sale known as ‘Impact Week’ (it’s kinda like their Black Friday) which will run until the end of May. This means you can grab 45% off using the code IMPACT at the checkout.
With the added flavour of the protein, this tastes like summer in a bowl. It’s like a lighter version of my Blue Mermaid Smoothie Bowl but equally as flavoursome and vibrantly blue. You’ll feel instantly hydrated and energised after eating this and the best part is it takes virtually no time to make whatsoever. I added some lime juice to the coconut water to help cut through the sweetness of the protein powder and it helps to add that little extra layer of flavour. One more thing – don’t skip the ice! No really, the ice absolutely makes it in my opinion.
I’ve heard so many jokes about Nature’s Cereal being a medium-rare smoothie, or it’s like someone has tried to make a smoothie in a power cut and I’m not gonna lie these did make me laugh. Buuuuut it’s honestly way better for you than a smoothie because you’re naturally breaking down the fruit with your teeth rather than just downing liquid sugar. It’s also pretty filling so you could easily split this portion with a loved one.
Anyway enough of my rambling on. If berries aren’t your thing you could totally switch this up for some tropical fruits instead – pineapple, mango, kiwi, and dragonfruit would all be amazing in this. Personally, I stick to berries the majority of the time as they’re low in sugar and high in antioxidants. Either way, just have fun with it and make it your own.
