What is Titration?
The dictionary definition of the verb ‘titrate’ is to ‘continuously measure and adjust the balance of (a physiological function or drug dosage).’. Simply put titration allows you to adjust your CBD dose to gain the maximum benefits for that dosage but without any unwanted side effects. Often with CBD you start low and go slow and build up to a baseline/optimal dose that’s your sweet spot.
It’s hard to tell anyone what their optimal dose might be and unlike most medicines, you can’t create a dose based solely upon your body weight. Your individual body chemistry and underlying health conditions can dictate this, along with the concentration of CBD and terpene blends.

How CBD interacts in your body depends on how deficient your endocannabinoid system is in the first place. Typically titration is used when someone is seriously ill or in serious pain but wants to minimise the amount of medical cannabis they use. So they’d build up a baseline dose of CBD and then play with titration of THC so that they can keep it at the lowest dosage possible in order to minimise any psychoactive side effects.
If you suffer from any chronic illnesses, pain, or even mental health issues such as anxiety, the titration of CBD can still help with your baseline dose in place. You might find one day your pain is a little too much and although the baseline dose is helping to supplement and address the overall problem you just need that increase in dose to combat the pain. But the most common form of titration for major health conditions is taking roughly 20mg of CBD once a day at the same time of day for a week, increasing the dose by 5mg, and again the following week, stopping only when you find the dose that works for you.

The Quality and Performance
There’s no doubt in my mind that Potyque creates high-quality products. The first thing I look for in a CBD brand is that they have a certificate of analysis, otherwise I outright refuse to review the product. Lab reports are important because they let you know that the products you’re buying are below the UK legal limit for THC, are the concentration that they say they are on the bottle, and that they’re free from any heavy metals or toxins. You should also be given a full breakdown of the cannabinoid percentages contained too.

The CBD market is so saturated now that you really do run the risk of purchasing a dud product that contains barely any CBD, or even worse something that isn’t safe for consumption altogether. So make sure you check for lab certificates before buying – because lets be honest, you don’t really want to get ripped off and risk your health simultaneously. At least I hope not?! Potyque uses MCT oil as its carrier oil. For those that don’t know, MCT oil is a coconut-derived oil and has risen to popularity in people who follow a keto or Bulletproof diet as they use it as a pure energy source. MCT oil is easily absorbed by the body but it also increases the bioavailability (absorption) of cannabinoids and terpenes, more so than other carrier oils. It has a very subtle taste making it versatile to use and great to dilute down the taste of CBD extract itself.
Another important fact to note is that Potyque’s CBD oils are all full-spectrum meaning that they use a full spectrum of cannabinoids. Now, your body already produces the 2 endocannabinoids; anandamide (AEA) and 2-arachidonoylglyerol (2-AG) that bind to the 2 dominant receptors (CB1 and CB2) within your endocannabinoid system. These receptors are actually responsible for regulating the majority of your physiological and biochemical functions.
Phytocannabinoids (ones produced by plants) like CBD also have the ability to bind to these CB receptors and create the same level of physiological homeostasis. It’s for this reason that purchasing a full spectrum product is a great idea as all of these many phytocannabinoids can work together for maximum effect. Full-spectrum oils also contain terpenes (the compounds that give a certain taste/scent) and also work in synergy with phytocannabinoids which is often referred to as the ‘entourage effect’.
Now that you know the basics behind a full spectrum CBD product how did Potyque’s Titration Pack perform? Well, as a long term CBD user I can’t say that I found it to be any different from other high-quality supplements – which is a good thing! It’s fast-acting and I loved having the scope to select different strengths. My dosage needs differ depending upon where I am in my menstrual cycle as right before my period I get extreme nausea which I can only liken to morning sickness. 2-3 drops of Potyque’s 20% oil definitely took the edge off of this within 10 minutes.
The Price
I think that this is probably one of the most important factors when looking at a CBD brand and product. Does the price reflect the quality and vice versa? In this case – most definitely. It’s worth noting that high-quality CBD products will always be expensive due to the ingredients and production methods used. If the product is lab tested and organic then a high price tag is always justifiable.
3 bottles should last you 3 months which works out at roughly £2.20 a day…
Now, the Titration Pack is an absolute steal! You get 3 x 10ml bottles of CBD in 3 strengths (5%,10%, and 20%) for £200, rather than the whopping £260 if you had bought them all individually. You also get a monthly CBD journal to record how much you’re taking, what strength, and when you’re taking it. There’s also a section to record how the quality of your sleep is, anxiety levels, pain, and energy levels at the end of each week.
Now, these 3 bottles should last you 3 months which works out at roughly £2.20 a day. This isn’t too bad when you think about the cost of a takeout coffee and the fact that it probably wouldn’t do your health as much good as a daily dose of CBD!
The Verdict
To be honest, there are a lot of pros on the go for Potyque’s CBD Titration Pack – one big one being, in my opinion, cost. By figuring out your optimal dose you can figure out what strength to purchase in the future and not spend a load of money on say, a few 5% strength bottles when one 20% strength could last you ages at a super low dose – like 1 drop.
Potyque have managed to break through a saturated market with a unique yet basic medical concept, and I hope many companies will follow suit.
But if you’re absolutely new to the world of CBD the biggest benefit hands down is being able to microdose your way to finding that optimal dose that works for you. This is such a hard thing to do but having those 3 different strengths and a journal to record the effects of each in is so beneficial.
The taste is pretty standard – very grassy and almost peppery/spicy with the higher strength oils. The 5% oil is very mild in taste and comes in a really light amber colour whereas the 20%, which is pictured, is much thicker, a dark brown in colour and super strong in taste. I think it would be really helpful to add some peppermint or orange oils to the blends to dampen the grassy blow a bit but the oils are still palatable.
Apart from the flavour, I can’t fault Potyque at all with what they’re doing and even their packaging is fully recyclable, apart from the rubber top to pipette, which is something I always like to look at when buying from any brand.
