A while back I received the Neal’s Yard Remedies Organic Eye Make-Up Remover to review. I have to say that I have always been a huge Neal’s Yard fan and having sampled some of their other products (reviews can be found in My Top 5 Organic Skincare Products post) I had high hopes for this one.
Make-up removers often are oil based – I’m not talking slathering pure coconut oil over your face to wipe your make-up away but those weird double layered ones that leave a gross oily residue around your eyes and often burn like a mother! I don’t have particularly sensitive skin but I always did come away with red eyes after using the stuff and so never bothered investing again. Not only that – if you’re a false lash sorta gal you’ll find that they will make your lash extensions drop off!
So, naturally I was excited to review a non-toxic make-up remover that was promised to not burn my eyeballs out of their sockets. But before I start my review have a little read about Neal’s Yard Remedies below.
Neal’s Yard Remedies Facts
- The company was founded in 1981 by Romy Fraser – a teacher by trade and single parent to two children at the time.
- Romy was aware that whatever you put onto your skin could be absorbed and enter your bloodstream, but at the time this was an unknown concept and Romy was alone in her views.
- Romy Fraser opened the first Neal’s Yard Apothecary store in 1981.
- The classic Neal’s Yard Remedies Frankincense & Myrrh Skin Cream (later to be named Frankincense Nourishing Cream) was born in 1983.
- Neal’s Yard Remedies now has over 50 stores within the UK and is stocked internationally in; Europe, the Americas, Asia/Pacific, and the Middle East.
Neal’s Yard Remedies Organic Eye Make-Up Remover
Price: £11.00 / 100ml
The Low-down: A gentle, oil-free, hydrating and conditioning make-up remover that will remove even the toughest water-proof make-up. Conditions your eyelashes whilst hydrating the delicate skin around your eye area.
Pros: This was such a luxurious make-up remover to use – I’m used to those awful greasy feeling ones that leave a weird film around your eyes. The rose and white tea scent is super calming and it really does what it says on the tin. Super easy to use and no ‘panda eyes’ – not even with the toughest of mascaras. My skin felt soft, silky, and supple after use. It’s also vegan.
Cons: Ummm none?
Where to Buy: Direct from the Neal’s Yard Remedies website.
I was super impressed by the Neal’s Yard Remedies Organic Eye Make-Up Remover – no stingy eyes just clean and soft skin. My skin felt like it had plumped out a bit and my fine lines also smoothed out too. To be honest I didn’t want to wear any make-up ever again my face looked that good. I also used it as a toner too and it was very effective.

So here is the description of the product as on the Neal’s Yard Remedies website:
The calming infusion includes nurturing damask rose, antioxidant white tea, soothing aloe vera and a smoothing tri-peptide.
And to sum it up I felt like it was all of those things, I felt like my face had been wrapped in silky smooth rose petals and drenched with soothing aloe vera gel. But that’s not all that I loved about the product; the 100ml bottle makes it really easy to transport around with you at all times, it’s so easy to use – you just pour it out on a cotton pad and gently wipe away your make-up, and the smell is unlike anything I have smelled before the damask rose and white tea are the perfect combo.
To top it all off it totes some of these amazing benefits:
- Made with 96% organic ingredients
- Certified organic by the Soil Association
- Dermatologically and opthamologically tested
So will I be buying this again? Most definitely!
